So, it has come to pass…Teachers’ pensions are going to be hit and hit hard. This can only increase the mass exodus from the classroom.
The worst part of the proposals is to increase teachers’ normal retirement age to 66, eventually 68, rather than the current 60 that older teachers have been planning aiming at for many years.
This would mean that a teacher age 57 who retires early would face a nine year actuarial reduction in pension, rather than the current three year reduction. That is if early retirement is even allowed at age 57. The early retirement option currently comes in five years before normal retirement. The likelihood is that teachers would be unable to take early retirement with an actuarial reduction until age 61 or 63 five years before the statuary retirement age.
Any teacher with any sense will retire this year, before these changes are brought in. This will include most teachers between 55 and 60 years of age, even those who were not considering early retirement until now.
You will have read how a teacher who works until age 65 dies within two years. What effect will working to 68 years of age have? Thousands of teachers dropping dead in classrooms? That will halve the teachers’ pension bill because the widow’s or widower’s pension is only half of the full amount.
It is possible to live on your teacher’s pension, but it is easier to do so if you can organise a second income to supplement it.
I took my pension last month. It is around £12,000 a year. I earn another 50 euro a month online every month. This online income is increasing month by month.
Any teacher can earn a second income by building websites and writing articles for sites like InfoBarrel.
The InfoBarrel forum makes learning how to make money by writing articles easy.
Building websites can be done very quickly using WordPress, free software that you can download.
